Old Parliament Building

The Old Parliament building, situated in the Colombo Fort Area is the building that houses the Presidential Secretariat of Sri Lanka. The Neo-Baroque-style building was built during the British colonial era to house the Legislative Council of Sri Lanka and was an idea of Sir Henry McCallum. The Architect of the building is Austin Woodeson.

The building does not offer tours of the interior, but you can walk around outside, inspect impressive bronze statues of eminent statesmen on the grounds, and take a relaxing break on the green lawns. The Parliament of Sri Lanka was shortly shifted to the new office in Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte, and the old building has since been serving as the residence of the Presidential Secretariat. The garden within the premises is home to a number of bronze statues, too.
