Murugan Temple

The Murugan Temple is a Hindu temple located in Madampe.

Murugan Temple is situated on the main road 9 km south of Chilaw and 10 km north of Marawila. It is an extraordinarily neat Tamil temple and more colourful than other Hindu Kovils in the modern Dravidian style. The temple is known as Punchi Kataragama temple and Replica of Kataragama temple. Since Kataragama is the Sri Lankan name of the South Indian deity Murugan. The large temple complex was donated by a local businessman and landowner, Which was opened in January 2012. They were involved in the production and delivery of toddy. Madampe belongs to Sri Lankaโ€™s main region of coconut plantations.
The best time to visit the temple is between October and March. Because the region where the temple is located experiences monsoon rains between April and September.
