Kadugannawa Ambalama

Kadugannawa Ambalama is a historic wayside rest that is found – on the left when travelling from Colombo to Kandy, a few meters before the Kadugannawa Hairpin turn. Also, You can see the bible rock view from there.

The Ambalama is a more than 200-year-old structure that was constructed in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) in the early 19th century during British colonial control. This building, which resembles Kandyan Era architecture and is of archaeological significance, was a well-liked resting place for horsemen and traders making their way from the lowlands to the old hill capital Kandy. It was rebuilt for Rs. 300,000 by the Ministry of Tourism with professional assistance from the Department of Archeology and is now regarded as a piece of Sri Lankan national heritage.
