Nelligala Temple
Nelligala Temple (Nelligala International Buddhist Center) is a Buddhist temple in Kandy’s Muruthalawa village. Due to its sheer beauty and amazing view of the surrounding landscape, it is a popular destination for sightseeing visitors and tourists. It is a modern temple, with construction beginning in 2015.
The Nelligala International Buddhist Center is a popular site visited by both Buddhists and people from various other religions. The temple includes sacred relics of Lord Buddha. You can pay homage to the Lord Sumana Saman here – a Lord from the Aryan discipline, mounted on a white elephant which is considered a luxury vehicle, from the summit of Samantha Girihasa.
The Nelligala International Buddhist Center is best visited in the morning and evening, as it is surrounded by breathtaking views. It is a very relaxing location with plenty of parking for visitors. The top of the hill offers a 360-degree view of the country’s central highlands. Views from the top of the hill include the Hanathana Mountain Range, Alagalla Mountain, Batalegala Mountain, and Sri Pada Mountain.
