Day 02 : Negombo /Pinnawala /Dhambulla

An orphanage, which was built to take care of elephants. This orphanage is situated in the Kegalle district on the Colombo – Kandy high way.

Day 03 : Dhambulla / Anuradhapura
After breakfast visit Cultural sites in Anuradhapura.
Anuradhapura lay deserted for hundreds of years, the ruins buried deep in the jungles of the dry zone of Sri Lanka. The visitor might imagine that an explorer had stumbled on the lost city and brought it to light. But Anuradhapura, city of 113 kings was never forgotten to the people of Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura is the birthplace of Sinhala civilization & one of the world’s largest archeological sites. It is considered as the greatest monastic city of the ancient world, & was founded in the 5th century BC. The artwork and architecture of Anuradhapura are too numerous to mention; among them are ancient Buddha statues showing the influence of Greek art and also some of he world’s largest stupas.

Day 04 : Anuradhapura / Polonnaruwa / Sigiriya
After breakfast leave for Polonnaruwa. Optional lunch at Polonnaruwa. After lunch visit Cultural sites.
Polonnaruwa was the capital of Sri Lanka from the 11th to the 13th century AD. This ancient city is today one of the most beautiful centres of this island’s cultural heritage. In its prime, the city, inside it’s 3½ miles strong encircling walls, housed hundreds of thousands of people. The remains of this ancient city comprised of many buildings and irrigation works. The buildings, mainly brick structures, included the inner city area (with two palace complexes of two different kings), inner & outer city walls, a number of monastic complexes with stupas, image houses & dwelling cells of monks. Also contained were refectories, assembly halls (chapter house, bathing pond etc.) Dinner & overnight stay at Sigiriya.

Day 05 : Sigiriya / Kandy
After breakfast visit to Sigiriya Rock Fortress. After which proceed for Kandy. En-route visit a spice garden. Optional lunch. Visit the Kandy temple.
Sigiriya:
This rock of the 5th century AD was a monastery before King Kasyapa built his kingdom. Better known, as the “Lion Rock” is a Citadel rising up to 560ft from the surrounding area. The popular frescoes of the maidens of heaven are found in the caves of this rock.
Kandy: (1815-1948)
The last and most popular kingdom in the history of Sri Lanka. The British army captured Kandy in 1815 and ruled for almost 133years before the independence of Sri Lanka in 1948. Dinner & Overnight stay at Kandy

Day 06 : Kandy / Nuwara Eliya
Proceed to Nuwara Eliya en-route visit a tea factory. Optional Lunch at Nuwara Eliya. Evening visit the Hakgala botanical gardens.
The center of the hill country also called the “Hill station” in British colonial jargon. This ruggedly picturesque location almost 6200 feet in elevation with it’s soft English spring climate is very English in it’s landscape & buildings; which of course was started by the British, who made it their hill resort, during their rule in Sri Lanka.

Day 07 : Nuwara Eliya / Yala / Katahragama

Day 08 : Katahragama / Bentota
After breakfast depart for Galle. Visit the Galle fort and popular tourist attractions. Optional lunch at Galle or similar.
The earliest recorded history of the city dates back to the year 545 AD, to the chronicles of the Roman historian, Cosmas. From then on records are very sparse – until the landing of the famous Arab navigator Ibn Batuta. Over the next 100 years, the city was the chief port of the island, for it attracted spice traders.The Portuguese came to Galle in 1505, followed by the Dutch in 1640.
