Lotus Tower (Nelum Kuluna)
Lotus Tower is 350m tall and Located in the heart of Colombo. Sinhala Name is ‘ Nelum Kuluna”.The 350-metre-tall 17-storey Lotus Tower includes a television tower, a hotel, a telecommunications museum, eateries, an auditorium, an observation deck, a shopping mall and a convention centre.
The tallest skyscraper of Sri Lanka- Colombo Lotus tower is also known as “Nelum Kuluna” in Sinhala. Colombo lotus tower is one of the most famous tourist sites in the town of Colombo, Sri Lanka. The project commenced during the tenure of President Mahinda Rajapakse and the construction began on 20 January 2012 following a foundation stone-laying ceremony. It was completed on September 16, 2019.
Location
After the initial decision to construct the tower within the confines of a suburb of the country’s economic capital city of Colombo, Sri Lanka’s government announced their plans to shift the location to the heart of the city. The tower’s new location is on the waterfront of Beira Lake.
Height of the Lotus Tower
Standing at a height of 350 meters(1,150 ft)with 13 floors, this tower is the tallest self-supported structure in South Asia, the 11th tallest tower in Asia and the 19th tallest tower in the world.
The shape of the Tower
The tower house represents the shape of a blossoming lotus. The lotus is a symbol of purity and is said to symbolize the flourishing development of the country. The tower base is designed according to the lotus throne being a symbolic part in Buddhism and the life of the Lord Buddha.

Inside the Lotus Tower
The tower has four entrances. Two entrances are using VIPs (distinguished guests and state leaders). A telecommunications museum and restaurant are located on the ground floor. The tower podium consists of 6 floors. The first floor of the podium will accommodate a museum and two exhibition halls. The second floor will use for several conference halls with seating space in excess of 500 people. Restaurants, supermarkets, and food courts will be on the third floor. A 1000-seat auditorium will be on the fourth floor and it will use as a ballroom. The fifth floor will include luxury hotel rooms, and large ballrooms, and the seventh floor will host an observation gallery. The landscaping is planned in the form of a large water park
The Observation Deck
The 29th floor is the observation deck and also the last floor which the general public can access. Where you can sight the beauty of the Colombo from the birds-eye view.
The Revolving Restaurant
The restaurant operates on roller-based technology which enables diners to dine on a moving deck offering a 360° view of the city of Colombo.
Opening Hours
the Lotus Tower will be open to the public from 12 noon to 10.00 pm on weekdays & from 10.00 am to 11.00 pm on weekends.
Ticket Prices
You can visit all the public areas with this ticket, When you buy this ticket you will be getting a tag and each individual will be grouped by the ushers, There will be 15 people for each group and the usher will guide you to the tower.
